Lithium Battery Fire Extinguisher
True to its policy to always research and develop new products, SYNERGY has now developed MULTIDOUSE, an extinguisher capable of extinguish lithium battery fires.
Lithium batteries are everywhere: in vehicles and transport equipment (motorbikes, bicycles, forklifts etc…), in computers and cellphones, in house and office appliances, in power tools. Today the list is endless and the risk is ubiquitous. MULTIDOUSE has been shown through extensive testing, to be the most effective extinguisher against battery fires.
Not only is MULTIDOUSE effective on lithium battery fires, it is also efficient in extinguishing solid fires, liquid fires and metal fires (fire categories A, B and D respectively). MULTIDOUSE meets all the criteria and specifications of fire extinguishers in those categories.
MULTIDOUSE thus offer the combination of economic competitiveness and technical efficiency. Whether in a car, attached to a transport unit, in the office, in the house, in the car park, in warehouses, the user ONLY needs MULTIDOUSE to satisfy the regulations and meet the possible risks.
MULTIDOUSE extinguishing agent is non-toxic, it is environmentally friendly and it is hot-work compliant. It comes in sizes of 1, 2, 6 and 9 liters. Its technical description and specifications are as follow:

Lithium Battery Fire Extinguishing Agent -Synergy Multidouse Foam
General Introduction
Lithium-ion battery fires are typically caused by the combustion of the electrolyte inside the battery, resulting in a hydrocarbon/air flame. SYNERGY MULTIDOUSE lithium battery fire extinguishing agent can rapidly cover the fire source, isolate oxygen, and suppress chemical reactions, effectively extinguishing lithium-ion battery fires. Additionally, SYNERGY MULTIDOUSE has excellent insulation properties, making it suitable for fighting fires involving energized equipment, which allows it to be widely used in scenarios such as electric vehicles and data centers.
Features:
- Liquid Form: Non-toxic, non-corrosive, and environmentally friendly.
- Efficient Fire Suppression: Capable of extinguishing fires within 10 seconds and preventing re-ignition effectively.
- Core Technology: The extinguishing agent forms a stable covering layer on the surface of lithium batteries, isolating oxygen while absorbing the heat released during combustion, lowering the battery temperature, and quickly extinguishing the fire. Additionally, the agent can absorb a large amount of toxic gases, such as hydrogen fluoride, produced during the combustion of lithium batteries, reducing harm to the environment and people.
Key Physical Properties:
- Freezing Point: -12ºC
- pH Value: Before temperature treatment: 8.5; After temperature treatment: 8.3
- Surface Tension: 18.2 mN/m
- Interfacial Tension: 3.4 mN/m
- Diffusion Coefficient: Before temperature treatment: 3.7 mN/m; After temperature treatment: 2.4 mN/m
Fire Test:
- Method: Thirteen lithium battery packs (13AH, 3.7V, each 65mm x 20mm x 125mm in size) were fixed on a heating furnace. The furnace was heated until the batteries spontaneously combusted, and then the heating furnace was turned off. A fire extinguisher containing SYNERGY MULTIDOUSE fire extinguishing agent and 6 liters of solvent was used to extinguish the fire.
- Result: The open flames were extinguished within three seconds, and the fire extinguishing agent was continuously sprayed for 10 seconds before stopping. The fire was fully extinguished, and no re-ignition occurred after waiting for 60 minutes, indicating a successful extinguishing process.
Application Scenarios
SYNERGY MULTIDOUSE can be used in fire extinguishers or fixed fire suppression systems for fires caused by lithium batteries.
Main Components and Characteristics
The primary component is a film-forming foam fire extinguishing agent, which has the following properties:
- Strong penetration and spreading ability
- Excellent cooling capacity and low-temperature resistance
- High stability, suitable for extinguishing lithium battery fires
Usage Instructions and Precautions
- Disconnect Power: Ensure that the lithium battery is disconnected from the power source to prevent further escalation of the fire.
- Cover the Battery Surface: Spray the extinguishing agent on the battery surface to isolate oxygen and stop the fire from spreading.
- Continuous Spraying: Continue spraying the extinguishing agent to ensure the fire is completely controlled, preventing re-ignition.
- Clean the Site: After the fire is extinguished, clean the site and ensure safety.
Precautions During Use
- Do not use conventional dry powder or carbon dioxide fire extinguishers for lithium battery fires, as these may worsen the fire.
- Lithium battery fires may produce toxic gases, so ventilation and cleaning are necessary after extinguishing the fire.
Safety
The electrolyte in lithium batteries serves as the carrier for ion transmission and is usually composed of high-purity organic solvents, electrolyte lithium salts, and necessary additives. These components can be harmful to humans under normal conditions. For example, ethylene carbonate and propylene carbonate may cause irritation or toxic reactions when inhaled or come into contact with the skin. In designing this fire extinguishing agent, we took these factors into consideration to ensure both safety and effectiveness. Therefore, when used according to the instructions, Synergy Lithium Battery Fire Extinguishing Agent is generally safe for humans.
